Tour Management
Dean
Dewey
Tour Manager / Lead Coach
Dean has been a member at Bognor
since 1976. A prop, he has played in the colts (representing
Sussex 19s), and the 1st XV, as well as displaying his subtle skills
in the lower sides.
He began coaching in the early
90s when his son, Tom, started mini rugby, and has been lead coach
at Sussex since 2001. He is also a coach tutor / assessor and
an accredited member of the RFU's coach development team.
This will be his second major
tour with Sussex, having also lead the tour to Canada.
Ben
Coulson
Assistant Lead / Backs Coach
Ben has been a member at Worthing
since Minis. A wing, he has represented Sussex at all levels
from 14s to Seniors, London Division 16s & 18s, and England 16sA.
He is still a member of the Worthing 1st XV.
A PE teacher by day, Ben has
worked with Dean at District and County level for three years, as
well as with Sussex u20s, and the London Division u20 squad.
Martin
Mandelbaum
Team Manager
Martin, a scrum half in his
younger days, played at Brighton through his teens.
He began coaching with the minis
at Pulborough, moving on to the club's juniors, District and County.
Martin has been involved with County for 9 years, the last 7 as
manager.
This will be his third tour with
the County having been a parent tourist on the previous tour to
Australia, and with Dean on the Canada tour.
Steve
Hallam
Forwards Coach
Steve has been
a member at Haywards Heath since the early 90s when he came out of a
15 year retirement to resume his career in the back row.
He began coaching at the same
time when his eldest son, James, started in the minis and has just
retired from club coaching having worked with the present 16s for
the past 8 years. This is Steve's first season with Sussex.
Dave
Harding
Management Assistant
Dave is another Heath member.
His playing career with Heath and the London Fire Brigade XV cut
short by knee problems he supported both sons through minis, and in
Nick's case juniors and seniors at Heath.
This is Dave's second tour having
been to Canada - nominally as a parent, but he (truthfully) assures
anyone who will listen that he was the busiest member of the
management team.
Dr Tim Dowle
Tour Doctor
Tim, a local GP for the past 17 years, is a member at Bognor and is
often seen still gracing the front row of the 4th XV.
He is also the club's medical
officer, having filled that role for the past 11 years. A role
he's also filled on a number of junior and senior club tours.
